Philips continues to change the face of sleep apnea with latest addition to the DreamWear family

Las Vegas, Nevada – Today at Medtrade Spring in Las Vegas, Nevada (March 27-29), Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA), a global leader in health technology, announced the launch of DreamWear Full face, the third mask option available for its award-winning DreamWear mask system. Philips Respironics, the number one choice brand of U.S. sleep physicians for continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) and masks, used the company’s proprietary design tools to analyze facial data from thousands of 3D scans to create a design that prevents red marks, discomfort, and irritation on the nose bridge.
According to a recent global Philips survey [1], sleep apnea patients say the top challenges to using CPAP therapy are that the mask can leave red marks on the face (40 percent) and the hose gets in the way (40 percent). Additionally, 38 percent of respondents say traditional masks limit their range of motion, and three in five respondents (63 percent) said they noticed they had a tendency to breathe through their mouth before being tested for sleep apnea. Recognizing the challenges sleep apnea patients face when choosing sleep therapy, Philips aims to help patients experience the most comfortable night’s sleep possible.

The new DreamWear Full face mask was designed to expand on current Dream Family offerings, with the goal of providing a better option for sleep apnea patients who breathe through their mouths. Philips DreamWear Full face features include:
· Comfort: To help combat the challenges that come with wearing a CPAP mask, Philips designed the newDreamWear Full face mask that patients say comes closest to feeling like there’s nothing on the face. Users rate the DreamWear Full face mask more comfortable and less intimidating than their prescribed mask [2]. Its innovative design helps to prevent red marks, discomfort or irritation on the nose bridge as the cushion is designed to sit under the nose, not on it.
· Convenience: The new full face cushion is one of three available for the DreamWear mask system, whichdirects airflow through the frame and removes the hose from the front of the face, giving patients more freedom to sleep comfortably in any position they desire. The offering also provides an option for patients when they can no longer breathe through their nose from allergies or a cold.
